An Experienced Counsellor Beside You

Families and individuals do not always need another technical adviser. Sometimes they need an experienced and independent person who listens, asks the right questions and helps them understand what is really happening.

Questions involving a family, its business or its assets rarely fit neatly into one professional category. A matter that first appears to be legal or financial may also involve trust, responsibility, fairness or relationships between different generations. Before looking for a technical solution, it is therefore important to understand the family itself.

No More Worries’ founding partner, Philip van Hilten, has worked with families of different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds for more than fifty years. During that time, he has encountered many of the situations in which families can unexpectedly find themselves — usually more than once and often in very different circumstances.

The value of that accumulated experience is not simply knowing what happened in the past. It lies in recognising situations, understanding how they may develop and seeing which questions should be asked before important decisions are taken.

Philip founded No More Worries in the belief that families and individuals should be able to benefit from this experience. He no longer needs to approach every question solely as a technical specialist. Instead, he can listen to the family, look beyond the immediate issue and help identify what really matters.

Sometimes that means acting as a sounding board for the head of a family or the owner of a family business. Sometimes an individual family member needs someone independent with whom to discuss a difficult or sensitive question. On other occasions, several generations may need help beginning a conversation that has been postponed for too long.

No More Worries does not start with structures or documents. We begin by listening and trying to understand the family, its members, its history and what it hopes to preserve.

Philip continues to devote his full time, energy and personal attention to this work. No More Worries is therefore not simply a collection of knowledge acquired in the past. It is an active and highly involved practice, combining experience with curiosity, personal commitment and continuing international relationships.

A trusted advisory relationship takes time to develop. Once it exists, the family has someone it can call when an unexpected question arises, when different advisers disagree or when it simply needs an experienced person with whom to think aloud.

The purpose is not to make matters more complicated. It is to bring clarity, provide perspective and make life easier.

Sometimes the most valuable advice begins with someone experienced who truly listens.
